More Detailed Information On Professional Scrum Master

PSM is the abbreviation for Professional Scrum Master and it entitles the job role of a facilitator for an agile development team. The Scrum Methodology revolves around the core principles that allow a team to self organize itself and manage tasks and situations quickly. The role of a PSM (Professional Scrum Master) is to effectively act as servant leader and facilitator to a Scrum team, implementing Scrum best practices, Scrum tools and skill sets to create success. experience of Agile/Scrum is necessary to enroll for the Professional Scrum Master certification course. You will be provided pre-reading materials and instructions by our training partners who are Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Trainers (CST®) as part of the class

A Professional Scrum Master is one who is responsible for managing the processes by understanding the Scrum values and principles. The job role of a PSM involves:

  • Helping his or her team reach consensus at the end of the daily scrum
  • Helping the team to understand what can be achieved in a specific time period
  • The responsibility to remove obstacles that are hindering his or her team’s progress
  • Scrum Master ensures the team doesn’t overcommit while ensuring that the team reaches its highest potential.

The PSM certification will help you in designing a simple framework that improves teamwork, communication, and speed across complex projects. Through the principles of the Agile environment, the team can make the necessary changes in the project by self-organizing.

  • If your company implements the scrum framework, having a Professional Scrum Master certification will help in developing the foundation of your knowledge.

  • To work with the scrum, you must have an agile mindset. Through the PSM I certification, you will have the ability to teach this mindset to yourself and your colleagues. Once you master the scrum, you will have the skill to carry out successful project results. Also, you will have better team adherence and fewer disagreements with the team members.

  • Maximize productivity by motivating Scrum developers in the team.

  • Resolve impediments and challenges in a complex business environment.

  • Higher salary increments and incentives. More top preferences for candidates with PSM certification in Scrum organizations.

  • Speed up turnaround time and enhance workflow.

  • Professional scrum certification helps you to expand the career opportunities across any company that follows agile practices.

The PSM exam has three levels:

  • People who have passed PSM I, achieving certification, demonstrate a fundamental level of Scrum mastery. PSM I certificate holders prove that they understand Scrum as described in the Scrum Guide and how to apply Scrum in Scrum Teams.  PSM I holders have a consistent terminology and approach to Scrum.
  • People who have passed PSM II, achieving certification, demonstrate an advanced level of Scrum mastery. PSM II certificate holders prove that they have an understanding of the underlying principles of Scrum and can effectively apply Scrum in complex, real-world situations.
  • People who have passed PSM III, achieving certification, demonstrate a distinguished level of Scrum mastery. PSM III certificate holders have a deep understanding of the application and practices of Scrum and the Scrum Values in a variety of complex team and organizational situations.

Both Professional Scrum Master (PSM) and Certified Scrum Master (CSM) are widely used certifications for software development but are different from one another. These two certifications are best to gain knowledge in Scrum and become a Scrum master. Here are some differences that will help you make the decision:

  • For the CSM certification, you will have to attend the 2-day training. You need to enrol yourself in an institute and submit assignments. You will have two attempts at passing the exam. For the PSM certification, however, training is not mandatory for PSM certification.
  • You need to score a minimum of  69% to get the CSM certification. For PSM, the minimum passing percentage is 85%.
  • The CSM certification exam has only multiple-choice questions. PSM, on the other hand, has multiple choice, multiple answer, and true/false type questions.
  • CSM certification has 2-year validity. After 2 years, you will be required to pay $100 for renewing the certification. For PSM, there is no need for renewal.
  • CSM is basic level certification, while PSM I has intermediate level of difficulty.

Our PSM I training aims to equip you with all the skills to be an effective Scrum Master. You will develop practical skills in the following areas to:

  • Be a great facilitator
  • Be a good coach
  • Resolve impediments
  • Enable high team performance
